Florida’s Transportation and Business Infrastructure

Florida’s transportation and business infrastructure is a cornerstone of Florida’s thriving economy, offering unparalleled access to key markets both domestically and internationally. Strategically located, the ports serve as a gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, and railways connect them to much of the southern United States. As the second-largest foreign trade zone in the nation, Florida has 19 international airports and 14 deepwater seaports, making it an essential hub for commerce and trade.

As Florida's population continues to grow, the state has worked to ensure infrastructure supports this expansion. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced several significant expansion projects, investing $14.5 billion in 946 different initiatives. They designed these efforts to add capacity, ease congestion, and ensure that Florida remains a top destination for business and tourism as the state continues to grow.
