With an average age of 36, Okaloosa County features one of Florida’s youngest populations. Okaloosa County offers a multitude of educational/workforce development partners, with the University of West Florida, Northwest Florida State College, Okaloosa Technical College, University of Florida REEF and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide. The Okaloosa County School District is one of only three school districts statewide to be “A” rated since ratings began in 2014. The Crestview/Fort Walton Beach/Destin MSA has been recognized by the Milken Institute as the 22nd Best Performing Metro Area in the 2023 “Best Performing Cities” ranking. Additionally, Area Development magazine’s 2023 “Leading Locations” report ranked the MSA #12 of 383 MSAs.
