Crystal Stiles is the director of Office of Economic Development for Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). Crystal joined FPL in 2012 and she has served the company in various roles including manager and project manager of economic development. She has a decade-long career in economic development and previously served as the co-executive director for the Business Development Board of Martin County.
Since joining FPL, Crystal continues to lead and advance Florida’s statewide economic development strategy and the visibility of the company’s economic development program, both within Florida and nationwide. The program has been recognized for three consecutive years on Site Selection Magazine’s list of Top Ten Utilities in Economic Development (2013 – 2015). Under Crystal’s leadership, FPL was named for the first time as one of “The Best Utilities in Economic Development in the Southeast” by Southern Business & Development Magazine. FPL was one of only five utilities bestowed with this recognition for its region.
Crystal and her team enhance and support economic development efforts throughout Florida with incentive rates for growing businesses, capacity-building community programs and providing resources to local and regional economic development organizations. The team supports business development projects throughout the state and is building a strong effort to attract data center investment, in addition to companies that fall within Florida’s 11 targeted industry sectors.
Crystal currently serves on the executive committee for the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC), the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Task Force, and as a board member for the Florida delegation of the Southeast U.S./Japan Association (SEUS/Japan) and the Utility Economic Development Association (UEDA), and serves as board chair for United Way of Martin County.
Crystal holds a bachelor of arts in communication from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. Crystal resides in Palm City, Fla., with her husband, John, and their two daughters.

Brandon Carson joined Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) in April 2017 as the senior project manager of economic development. Brandon has more than a decade-long career in economic development in varying leadership roles for Merit Advisors, The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County and Enterprise Florida, Inc. Brandon currently serves on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches and Palm Beach Tech Association. Prior to his role at FPL, he successfully led new economic development projects for companies that represent 4,566 new/retained jobs and $744 million in capital investment. Brandon holds a bachelor‘s degree and an MBA from Florida State University and currently resides in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Danielle Pickard, Project Manager

Danielle Pickard joined Florida Power & Light Company in July 2008 and in December 2015 became project manager of economic development.
She has held various roles in areas including client and event management, product marketing, email channel management, electric vehicles and project management. Some of her notable achievements include marketing efforts that exceeded Online Home Energy Survey goals by 214 percent and helped FPL place second in the nation for email communications among utilities from J.D. Power for 2013. With FPL’s growing green fleet, Danielle led and managed more than 70 charging station infrastructure projects for fleet and workplace charging.
Danielle holds a bachelors of arts in strategic communication from the University of Minnesota. A native Floridian born and raised in South Florida, she currently resides in Tequesta, Fla.
Mary Dempsey, Business Analyst

Mary Dempsey joined FPL in November 2012 as the economic development business analyst to support the promotion and management of the specially discounted economic development rate.
Mary joined FPL from Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Fla., where she served as regional admissions representative responsible for marketing, recruiting and enrollment for various degree programs. Mary also served for seven years as market director for Coastal Market Graphics, LLC, a real estate market research company that tracks more than 1,800 residential developments on the Georgia and South Carolina coasts. Through CMG, she served and advised more than 65 clients including national, regional and local developers, banks and builders, national retailers, investment firms, hospitals and municipalities.
Mary earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama. She currently resides in North Palm Beach, Fla., with her husband, Luke and son, George.
Cavario Jackson, Data Center Analyst

Cavario Jackson joined Florida Power & Light Company in May 2016 as a business analyst for the Office of Economic Development. In his current role, he focuses on data center marketing and legislation.
He has held various customer service roles in the retailing industry and also fulfilled customer service functions in the field of logistics. He worked for Total Military Management (TMM), a Jacksonville-based third-party logistics company, where he interfaced with military representatives in their relocation efforts prior to attaining his master’s degree.
Cavario holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in international business from the University of North Florida, as well as an MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Nova Southeastern University. He currently resides in Palm Beach County, where he was born and raised.
